Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from Piastri by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before sliding over the escape zone, and was blessed to avoid just a light touch of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
